Cognitive Models Improve the Performance of Artificial Agents on the Semantic Web

An ever increasing number of artificial agents are being deployed on the semantic web. These autonomous problem-solving computational entities operate in dynamic and open environments, and in Multi-Agent Systems they cooperate and interact with other agents (both human and software) that have complex and possibly conflicting aims.

New research suggests that agents based on cognitive profiling heuristics exhibit improved interactions with both humans and other artificial agents. The results of the study suggest improved flexibility, interoperability and reusability of agents’ collective behaviours and goals. It establishes cognitive profiling for agents as a step forward for the next generation semantic web.
